Sunday - okay, i guess. If you like that kind of thing... ; )

The Bolinas bus was pretty regular this afternoon - came every 20 minutes or so mostly uncrowded. As the sun went down the express came through from time to time. Knee high peelers both left and right (watch the groin pole on the left). So mellow.

I knew I was in for fun when I met a guy coming out of the water who was complaining "why do I have to go to work on a day like this???"

Oh the wonderful drive outside of the city and into the hills with the views of the Pacific we all find ourselves anxiously staring at while riding along the swervy curvy Highway 1. The waves were coming in every so often with some nice little oomph as the tide started to fill back in. Some really fun short rides here and there. It was definitely chilly and the sun didn't appear until after I told myself that wave was the last. A handful of happy folk out in the water were doing their thing. Scoring some of the last bit of warm soup at the health foods store made things that much better.

Back at my home break, on the Andieni, with good buds, a nice sunny afternoon, slight offshore, with a nip in the air and an extra nip in the water. NOT watching the Superbowl! Catching nice chest high rights right off the ramp.

wrong place, wrong time. super meh saturday (get it? superbowl sunday? nevermind).

was hoping the growing swell would light things up. there was plenty of bump in the water, of decent size, but it just wasn't breaking. even the janitors weren't locking in. this was in the patch. after getting out, the channel was _kinda_ working, racy and/or closing out. i really have crap luck scoring at bopu.

Drove up to BoLinS today during the game. I figured that recording the game while everyone was watching it might give me some empty waves. WRONG.
I was yelled at by some yuppie dad unloading his kids out of his range rover as I pulled into town...SLOW DOWN!

I hadn't been out of the city in weeks so I took a ride out to the old home town. I didn't REALLY think there would be waves, and the massively out-sucking outgoing tide wasn't going to make it any more likely, but the flatness and utter unsurfability greatly exceeded my expectations.

headed to the little town and checked the mess only to kill some time at that wonderful natural foods store with the great soup. killed more time at the skatepark where hardly a soul is ever in sight. checked the waves again. decided to do a u-turn and head to the beach across the channel. surfed some funky waves over there for the first time while thinking of sharks. i realized i wasn't being pulled to the north or south (ocean beach has tricked me into thinking all wide open beaches have insane currents). every now and then some heavy close out sets would come through with the occasional gem providing a fun ride. the warm showers were a nice touch after the session.

Trekked north to check things out today. Not quite enough oomph to come around the corner and bring the goodness. Still fun-- WH peelers lined up just fine. Sunny, uncrowded, kinda brownish water.

Smaller than expected, glassy and crowded. But fun nontheless. And there was sunshine, which I had not seen in a week.
