After not being able to get in the water for a couple weeks, knee-chest high beachbreak brought the stoke. Objectively it was probably a "Fair-" but I had good times on the fish this afternoon and first session without booties since September or so. Sweet smells greeted me on the beach from people enjoying the weather on 4/20.

Lombard St: 1 foot. Should I go boogie board or handplane? Probably boogie board.....and helmet.

Cant wait for the PowerLines film.

Figured that "secret spot" with the boats and the rocks and the turistas and the ladies with the jogging and the oy-she's-pretty would be the best game in town. Think I was right. HH to OH...moderate crowd, (most of whom seemed NONE too glad to see my smiling face,) pretty clean. Will post a pic after a decent interval.

Fun drops that backed off quickly, but nothing spectacular. Had a good time and got my share, so it was worth the paddle.

It was big and lumpy out there, but with enough lulls for reasonable paddle back. I got a couple of huge, crumbly waves between 8-9. The weather was unattractive from my car, but fine once I was out.

Went to my local beach not in San Francisco eager to get a session in because I've been going through withdrawals. To quote the Schaler algorithm on Surfline, conditions were "none." No visibility due to fog. From what I was able to make out it looked super disorganized. No one out.

I walked the beach anyway and picked up trash left at the high tide line. Here was the score:

Surfed "Other" for the first time today. Easy to get in. Getting out is another matter. Really weird wave. Would take some getting used to. Did OK but not in a hurry to go back.

It wasn't actually in San Francisco. This is a spot where you might also like to do some calf-roping or watch TV news in the 1960s.

It was a solid Fair around 3 pm (SH-HH), but by 4 pm it was barely Poor.

Glassy, crowded, and all kinds of side shows at a "secret spot" yesterday (10/12). Don't let the circus act distract you from enjoying the waves in the background. Neither were outstanding, but the waves edge out the juggling by a nose.

The morning started nicely, with little peelers around 9am. But the pulse sorta slipped away. Better early, fun overall, but there wasn't much for me to surf.

Drove from Ocean Beach to Half Moon bay.
Ocean Beach seemed like it'd be great if you could make it to the outside and could handle the size. Not many people out. I'm 5'2" and 100 pounds of man child on a board two sizes too big so I passed. Stopped at Linda Mar took a crap in their craptastic toilets while my dog took the smart route and crapped inside the car. Other than that it was buissness as usual at Lindy, close out city and a bit windy. The place that has a rock wall in Half Moon Bay (is this angering the location gods?? Should i be more cryptic) seemed like the best bet, about 3-4 feet with a bit of a crowd.

Crowded, fairly competitive, and inconsistent. That being said, there was a push and there wasn't any surface texture. Shoulder to head high with an occasional plus set. I mainly sat inside and picked off the smaller ones and swing sets.

75 degrees, the sun out and the warm water turned a 'small and gutless' report into a 'small and playful' report.
