Stopped at LM to survey the mess. Didn't look so hot. We took the scenic tour of the local backroads and found progressively better conditions as we meandered southward. Picked a good-enough spot and found a WH peeling right that kept on giving. Pretty fun!

Overcast, occasionally breezy. Nobody else in the water.

SCRATCHYYYYYYY!!!!!!! I was the only guy out and there was a sole whale playing in the lineup. I couldn't believe my eyes, nor could I believe that I had gotten that close. I paddled over to it, and it ran away. Then sticker and this other guy showed up. We caught some blech waves but whatever, it's something to do, especially after a sleepless, perturbed night. I should have medicated but whatever I'm not like that. Sticker stuck around and a few minutes later we kept seeing bulbous buoyant barnacled bodies bobbing up and down, so I started to chase. Me and my bright ideas. We got to them and I shit you not, if we wanted to pet them, we could have. I was within ***10feet*** of a mother and her calf, but I decided to not touch them for fear of a breach due to spooking it. Absolutely amazing. Quite possibly the most amazing thing I've ever seen out there. I've seen whales before, but not that close. Contact made. Contact.

Fun shoulder high dumpers with some corners. Pretty stoked given the weak options today.

the spot away from the people collected like seagulls fighting for scraps was actually pretty fun every 10 minutes or so... Had a lot of fun with lefts & rights all longboard fun... wish you were there but won't say where...

Pretty windy down here. Found a spot that should have been totally blown-out, but wasn't. Plenty of chop, but there were waves. Shifty. Larger sets were SH (and remember I'm a giant, that might be HH to you). Worth the paddle.

Sun, whale spouts in the distance. No human beings in the water ('cept me).

somewhere between fair and good somewhere south of the Salinian Block (look it up! learn something!) - chest to shoulder high. find a place to hide from the wind, and you got it made.

Dawn Patrol: Lindy was calf-high closeouts. It was much nicer just around the bend...chest to HH with ocassional bigger sets, lefts and rights. Found myself staying in front of the rocks and picked off many a fun wave. Traded in the short board for an 8'0" funboard for the last hour of my sesh and had even more fun. A little extra foam to get in early definitely paid off...stoked! Drove past Lindy on my way out (10:30am)...there must've been 60 heads in the water. Have fun with that.

Well OH to DOH unadulterated punishment. 30min paddle. Heart in throat moments...then for f's sake, broke the damn board too. Couldn't find the other half. So long and thanks for all the thrusting. RIP El Gringo. Poor plus/Fair minus, due to shape. Most of the mackers were just quickly closing. Wasn't asking for big cotton candy, but I really didn't want the guillotine either! :( HARUMPH!

That one spot where "no one surfs" was super fun and consistent today with long rides turning into runs (rolls) onto the sand. Rs&Ls both fun. But the word was out and it was not the lonely paddle it usually is. New spot name "that one spot people sometime surf"

Scabies point in perfect solitude, but the waves were eh...I dunno. A bit mixed up, but breaking a bit further out than the second double pylon, which means it was pretty solid. HH+ on outliers, and a few shoulders could be had if you were fast. Good fun watching the sun rise. Love that place. Shot and beer and video poker with a pack of Winstons tempted me up the street, but I just went back home to shower.
