good times today at alpine amidst the incoming storm. high traverse / wolverine saddle were closed b/c of visibility and avy concerns but was still able to score some great turns. NO ONE on the mountain today because of the conditions so tomorrow should be epic.

got to finally rip my new line motherships in decently deep snow and it was glorious.

My third powder day in a row. Managed to get over to Sherwood chair shortly after they opened it and got more fresh turns. Lapped it about 7 times, and my performance diminished as it got more chopped up. Still awesome. I'd get down to the lift to meet my pow buddy and I'd be more and more snow-covered each run due to more and more epic blunders. Best was when I misjudged a dip/jump near the runout and ballistically launched headfirst into the deep.

Thorough day 3. Uber satisfied.

Skied Alpine Saturday. Spring conditions, and not intolerably crowded. Made sure to turn in the sun and expect crispies in the shadows. Spent too much time bombing down Summit and way little time on bumpier steeper stuff. This is largely due to a mix of a low urge to explore and a sense of loyalty to ride w/ some friends of the single-plank persuasion, who of course don't take kindly to bumps. Made a single trip down Scott Chute to end the day. Big grins. Should have lapped it a few more times, though.

All in all, I think I need to get to know Alpine like I do Kirkwood.

Got out for the 11:30 dawn patrol. Everything was pretty well hit but found plenty of stashes. Most of the mountain was dust on mashed potatoes. Super dry 6 inch layer on top. Vis was the only down side. Rode Summit chair alone most of the time.

there was no real fresh snow at alpine today (at least on the front side) and what was there yesterday had become pretty sticky / crusty. visibility at the summit was pretty bad. probably about as far as I could throw a snowball. even then, the super flat light made agressive skiing difficult (hello mogul!) it was kind of snowing / sleeting with decent winds so it was fairly cold too...

phresheez failed me today - not sure what happened, but probably my phone inept fault.

skied solo at alpine meadows today. my first time at this resort and I was impressed. not quite as gnarly as squaw, but many other amenities that I liked about it (fast lifts, few lines, hike-to area retained pow, good terrain, etc.) started off the day traversing over the wolverine, etc. bowls off summit six, but soon realized the snow way across the high traverse was SICK. did a few laps of Summit Six > High Traverse > freshies > sherwood lift > our father > cat trails > summit six (and repeat). was way cool.

the weather was superb today (sunny, cool, light winds), and although this made me want to give it a "good", I opted with fair + because I need to save something for the day I get to ski alpine with a few feet of legit fresh pow.

A soft new inch with 3-5 inches coming down throughout the day made for a nice day at alpine. The morning was epic off the Scott Chair. Everything got pretty ski'd out before noon. Visibility became an issue in the afternoon and temperatures warmed up causing some grabby snow on and off the groomers. Get some wax on your gear and you wont have any problems.

It was a moderate crowd. Especially 3 days before xmas.
