Alaia surfing

91

The Alaia board is a thin, fast, finless, wooden surfboard with no rocker, arguably hard to handle. La La is the ancient Hawaiian word for alaia surfing. It is about sliding across the wave and then breaking trim into a sideslip or a cut back. Check out the video or the driftsurfing article for more information. What are your thoughts? Fad or inspiration?

No way you could call this a fad. This is as cool as you can get. Takes a good rider to do something like this. No fin, no rocker, it's as minimalist as you can get. Much respect. I almost like this as much as the peanut I've seen before :)
