Please use respect and common sense when surfing an SUP. Just because you could catch every wave, doesn't mean you should. Nobody likes a wave hog, give respect, and don't be a kook!” -Naish SUP's

There seems to be a growing mentality of SUP's that "First one standing on a wave gets the wave, I am always standing, therefore I get every wave." I mean, SUP's are NOT surfboards, they are boats. Can sail boats, or row boats, or ski boats, or windsurfers, or jet skis claim every wave?
What's the difference between dropping in on a SUP and dropping in on a jetski?

Maybe you should consider confronting one of those sup "kooks" if you think
You have a leg to "stand" on.

@h20hkook You're probably riding a 9' plus board. What makes you and your board so special?
@surfermax You've been identified in the lineup before. You can't complain until you make the move from the shoulder over to the peak.

@h2ohkook I'll ride whatever board I want to ride. Sometimes it's a 5'10 channel islands sometimes a 9'6" SUP. If i'm deepest, I'm going.
I don't burn locals and show respect where it's due. If you don't have fun at LM go somewhere else.
P.S. If your a local, sorry. Remind me next time and I'll give you a few.

That's the bottom line. Respect where it's due. If your not getting respect maybe try a different approach. Or sport.

Let tenderloin Tom set it straight: Down in San Diego they have a surfing side and swimming only side, I think we might need SUP side and surf side here before surfermax tears up lmnewbe, or maybe we could have a paddle and one big hug, short and long boards alike
Bottom line don't be a kook

@tenderlointom. Now you got an idea there. "Like in SD." Except a new age version, not a "what your riding" separation , but "how far from the peak your surfing is your home" speration. If your visiting, you yield way and respect. You rarely see any altercations between locals, right? Let the locals hash it out.
Just surf, keep your head down, and have fun. Don't try to rally other people via the internet to discriminate against others. If its your home then say something if it bothers you. But if you a visitor keep your trap shut.
Now the real trick is to figure out who's the REAL locals. Shhhh...I know who's who at Lm. Tenderloin Tom or SurferMax aren't
Local.

I have a good idea where tenderloin tom lives. Tom, you be a local in the loin. I'll handle the beach. If i ever want to score some crack or want a hookup with a tranny hooker. I'll go through your local expertise. Thanks, I'll let you know. Oh wait, your probably not even local there...Tranny!! I mean Transplant!!

Regardless of where your locality is, you shouldn't be an asshole in or out of the water. It looks like surfermax was just posting some advice and etiquette that obviously some people need to be reminded of. Someone, I'm not gonna name names but BaliSUPBitty and 0ptshark0 are just being assholes.

Tell you the truth, I'm from where kelly slater is from = Florida ,do you think kelly worries about the locals when he travels? I did live in the TL for 1 year in 1999 and then the outer sunset for 5 and now in-between Linda mar and ocean beach, I have been going to Lindamar for 10 years ,and OB for ten years, if you call yourself a local you are a un mobile clown that doesn't get out of town much, I had never had any problems out in the water in my 20 years of surfing and if I do I will shank ya with my diving knife,, just kidding about the knife, so I don't really know where I'm a local and still trying new spots and have fun every time

Here in SC the city council has actually limited the number of ppl that can be taking lessons at one time - citing safety concerns. If this type of restriction is possible then why can't the city also ban SUP's at surf breaks? Their boards are bigger and heavier and, in general, they are clueless. Sounds dangerous to me. Let's ban 'em!!! (They aren't really surfers anyway)
