Any recommendations off-the-beaten path?

Rant - Any recommendations off-the-beaten path?

This could be--possibly--the dumbest post on Stoke Report to date.

I'm looking for a prospective one-week or so surf trip with the following criteria:
- not extravagantly expensive
- not crowded and definitely off the beaten path
- waves at least a 4 out of 10 in quality and consistency.

That's about it. I'll sacrifice wave quality for less crowds.

Places I've surfed include Sri Lanka, Maldives, Kandui, Oz, NZ, RSA, Ireland, Chile, British Columbia.

In a perfect world I would go back to Chile--but that's too pricey and too long to get to.

Any help is much appreciate and apologies if this post is in appropriate. If the price ia admonishment for the last week I'll have to do this for awhile then it's easily worth it.

Something a little further off the path than Baja and where I'm not likely to run into a bunch of (pardon me) San Diego guys hogging the point....(mean no disrespect)....

Uluwatu, Bali is awesome. Pricey to get there, but hotel and food are cheap. Some of the best surf anywhere. While Uluwatu is not at all off the beaten path there are lots of breaks in the area that are.

If you want to be really exotic, hit up the great lakes in winter :)

Without jeopardizing any secret spots I have been too, I would strongly recommend that you look into Costa Rica locations. Once there, you can hook up with someone, and be taken to surf spots to die for especially this time of year with the Southern Hemis coming in. Also, Samoa. Been to both, and always had unadulterated surf every day, especially Samoa. Good luck in your decision(s).

+1 on Peru. The ONLY caveat is that one week is too short... the 'or so,' howver...

Nica (Time the swell... in... out... one week of non-stop surf)

I am headed to Nicaragua in 2 weeks...and will tell you all about it after I return...if you email me. This spot I am going to is off the grid...and usually empty with nothing but a small hotel at the break. Super fun, long lefts. I'll be back at the end of the month.

Otherwise, go to El Salvador, especially if you're regular. You'll get super fun, clean rights all day long...and you can catch a red eye from SFO and be surfing the next morning by 9:00am. You can stay on the cheap for $10/night or class it up at a few of the nicer hotels. I'm a huge fan of Salvador...

That buena vista place is in playa maderas which is always crowded and the closest break to san juan del sur.

Been going to nica for the past 6 yrs, every year. I am kinda overit right now, maybe I will check salvador myself. However, if I had 2 weeks, I would go to Peru or Chile....

I just got back from surfing in Peru as well. There are a ton of fun waves for Loggers right in Lima, and some bigger waves in the south (Punta Rocas) or super long waves in the North (Chicama).

For Cheap, great waves. Nicaragua hands down.
