I know that our general opinion of SUP's varies on here, but I found this video on youtube and it looked like a really good way to get a wave if your stuck in the middle of the country. Thoughts? I am thinking of getting a rig to use in Ontario when I visit my parents and to have something to play with on the great lakes.
Anyone ever tried this?

No need for the SUP just grab a short fat stick and go.

i think that looks pretty damn fun to me. i've never tried SUP for waves...but I've used a SUP just to tool around the bay in Vancouver (Canada) and when there aren't any waves it's a pretty fun way to spend the day in the sun and get a good core workout.

wake surfing is more fun, but you need a good wake to it. looks like you don't need much of a wave for the sup. agree with whatupwilly that it's better than nothing when you're on a lake/bay and want to explore...too bad that guys outfit looks like a cirque du soleil reject...

My dad has a super air nautique that throws a good thigh high left with the ballast full and like 6 people right on the aft starboard seat. It burns the hell out of your thighs, really fun to practice little floaters and top turns. You are so close to the boat that your girl can hand you a beer and ask what song you want on. But nothing like a good 8 ft day at OB.

Redneck surfing at its finest. there is a reason we have 2000 miles of land between us and them....No wait, they have already invaded Lindy....damn.
