Friday morning a construction crew unearthed the unexploded World War II-era shell, and officials closed streets near the site and evacuated nearby buildings. Friday afternoon, explosives experts determined that the device was not live, KTVU reports.
A team from Travis Air Force Base planned to take the shell back to the base, according the KTVU.
If the shell had been live, it could have been taken to the open setting of Ocean Beach for disposal, as authorities have done before.
