A dead whale that washed ashore the previous day was bulldozed to a permanent burial site not far from where it was beached
Wonder if they are going to stake it off or just let lil Johnny be surprised when starts building that sand castle?
Yeah, also, Stacey's a good digger, *and* she's curious...
Are they in the SUP union? http://www.seiu.org/
Saw two guys standing around, and three in the tractors....hmmm work ratio of 3/5 ain't bad! :D
This is my first post, even though I've been lurking here for quite a while and I love this site. Anyway, I remember a dead whale washing up in the same exact spot back in 2003 and it was also buried right there in the sand. It was a bit unnerving at the time, since there were the same theories of the residuals being a big shark attraction. But people kept surfing that spot and nothing ever happened. Hopefully that's some sort of consolation!
Great. "Burying whales in the sand close to popular surf spots in the middle of white shark season is not so smart. In landed terms, it is the equivalent of placing a 70 foot pepperoni pizza between a Boy Scout troop and a den of hungry grizzly bears - in the spring...when the bears are hungry." - http://www.surfermag.com/features/onlineexclusives/beached-whale-shark-a...
the sharks probably think that they are giant crabs and they are pulling in food to eat it... pretty stupid of the crabs. They all probably just go home have a beer and say guess what I did today??? pushed a whale on to the beach and buried it in a hole! I actually think that sharks are really smart. They know we are dumb but also know we taste really bad... too many chemicals.
Can't help but wonder if they didn't need a special permit to do that and, if so, did they actually get one in such a short time.
Yeah, sorry @OceanHealth, the Parks Service is the one that actually issues those special permits.
