Rant - Broken glass in parking areas
Subjective report here - Seems to be a lot more glass in some of the "rural" lots lately... Dunno if it's true... but an ounce of prevention nonetheless... Surf safe.

While surfing in Hawaii I kicked out of this little 4' wave only to have the board hit the lip and the off shore wind shoot it up in the air and eventually land on my head fin first. Left a gash about 6" long and of course scalp wounds bleed like hell. All the other surfers around me told me to get out of the water for fear of attracting sharks(?). Weren't any out there on the South Shore but the blood pouring out of the wound was enough to make some queasy.
Had fun when I came out of the water on the beach in front of the tourists and major Hotels walking home though.
BTW, these were the days before leashes were used in the Islands. If you used one there at that time, you were tagged as a Haole.
