Nothing but sad. It's even more sad that the SFGate doesn't feel the need to report on this. I guess if it's not Mavs it doesn't count.

I've seen this person out many times at a spot down south. He was an experienced surfer and could definitely handle meatier waves. Must have been a fluke accident. So sad. RIP.

It was stated in one of the reports he surfed almost everyday. By several accounts this guy was very experienced - one might say even an expert in the local conditions. Vis-a-vis yesterday's less than epic conditions, it really begs a law-of-averages question.

When I first got to the scene and the medic shook his head, the only way I could temper that sick feeling in my gut was BELIEVING he was 85, lived an awesome karma-filled life and had a heart attack after his 10th epic ride of the morning. Turns out he hadn't even hit middle age. Yet one too many OB reminders this spring that life is not a dress rehearsal.

"Life is not a dress rehearsal," and I can honestly say that I'm a "LIVING" testament to that since September 1, 2010.
