Rant - Canary Islands/Morocco/Portugal

Hi Stokers,

Got a break in the action and feeling like taking a trip to parts unknown and could use your feedback. Planing on leaving on Thursday and don't have a plan, but do have the time. I'll be gone for 8 days (10 including travel dates). I'm considering visiting the Canary Islands, but also would love to see Casablanca, and/or Portugal.

This ideally is a surf trip. Please offer ANY and ALL feedback on surf-sports, lodging, cities, etc......I've never been to this part of the World. Oh, and if anybody wants to go, I'm open if you are. Leaving in 5 days!

Cheers,
Andrew

Portugal is nice this time of year.
Good variety of waves — points, slabs, beach break — and rental cars are fairly cheap.
Visited in September and had swell the whole time, besides a day or two.
Don't leave anything you want to keep in your car. Gone with the quickness.

Ribeira das Ilhas, in Ericeira, Portugal is a great point. Also, Sagres down in the Algarve is wonderful and will pick up swell from most directions. Fall is the best time in Europe so you should have a blast!

Have been to Portugal and the Canaries - both are great and September is usually a great month.

Here's my suggestions if not too late;
Canaries - Go to Fuerteventura and stay in Corralejo - great town and has a couple of breaks in the town and near some world class beach and reef breaks along the northern track, as they call it. Best with a 4x4 but the breaks at the edge of town are good and the locals don't wake up too early.

Portugal - Go to Lagos (Near Sagres) - great town and again near to many spots. You're on the corner of Portugal here and can go to spots that pick up the South as well as the Northern swells.

let me know if you need additional info.
Have fun
