God damn thieves! I've had my car broken into at the beach while surfing Sl0at. Within 20 minutes they had charged up at Stonestown (white & black dude on camera using card but police don't do shit). Nothing worse then a dirty rat thief. I am a mellow guy but thieves fill me with so much rage.

Sorry to hear that bro.

BTW they had thrown a rock through window to get in. Right there by the restrooms. Ballzy rats

sorry for your loss :( it sucks. If we ever surf together I'll get you a sandwich. A tsunami from Java Beach is pretty good IMO. Also the whole one, with a fuqton of them chips. I won't skimp on ya.

That's the worst man. hopefully they didn't get anything you can't replace. Bummer about the window.

Did they leave the tape deck? What about the Creedence?

I'll keep an eye out for shady behavior, for sure.

Bastards. I try to leave my wallet stashed somewhere else besides my pants, but usually just leave it at the house. I would love to catch one of these low lifes in the moment. Sorry for your loss.

I was surfing at the area closer to mexico (years ago) and I can in, and a guy was in panic mode, pacing, fretting, swearing. He had hid his keys on the car, and thieves drove off with his Car. This was pre work, so he was loaded for the day, two boards, work clothes, work laptop (with company secrets) and all his gear. He was practically weeping like a bitch. (not kidding). I really felt for the dude, he called his wife on my phone, the cops, his work. He got robbed blind. standing there on a cold wintery early morning dripping wet in the parking lot far far away from love and embracing the darkness in man kind. His mistake was to just leave his keys in bumper. (thats rookie - dont ever do that now a days)

Sorry to hear about your theft. That kind of stuff really leaves you with a bad feeling. I think the truth is that the city is lousy with thieves. They're all over the place, walking around, driving around, blending in, looking, looking, looking for something to steal. They don't care, they're leaches. When I park at the beach and go out into the water I always assume that my car will be broken into so I hide anything I really don't want to lose. This only works for small items like wallets and phones but with a little imagination some spots can be found that would probably be missed by a thief in a hurry. Keep your key with you and your cash low or very well hidden. If it's any consolation, your not alone, I have had lot's of stuff stolen over the years. It always sucks.

Grrrrr-that sucks! Will keep my eyes out.

And thanks for the reminder-I'll leave my wallet at home when I go surf today.

Thanks everybody for the kind words... It is proving to be hard to file a report I am getting dicked around by all levels of law enforcement. Trying to get the pictures of the perps. and I will post if I can. I guess I am too trusting I usually do hide my stuff but I was so excited to go surfing that I took the short cuts... Piss shiver thanks for the sandwich offer I will take you up on that. Look for a yellow rashie...
Best,
K

There was a guy a couple years ago that was boosting cars. We got a good description of the guy and his vehicle, and posted it all over. It would be good to get as good a description as possible of these assholes (height, weight, picture would be GREAT). There ended up being a lieutenant at the local copshop who was helpful in ID'ing the perp. After the info went out the dickweed disappeared. Don't know if he got busted though.

SFPD generally cop (ha) the attitude that if it don't bleed, it don't need. Liberaly city, lame PD. I've had my car broken into twice.

We need to do a neighborhood watch type thing, look around when driving to/from, and if you see the assholes, call the cops. Maybe some personal policing might be necessary too...

I am all for anything that prevents a rash of breakins at the beach. We all leave a ton of valuable crap in the car when we go surfing, and if people are getting broken into right left and center that will be a major bummer.

It also helps to drive a car that a hooker in TJ wouldn't drive :) (Lol, that was NOT my description but one bestowed upon my vehicle in the lot by one of my saltier friends). I think we all died laughing when he said it. :) Stealth is key. Look like you ain't got sh1t, and no one takes anything. If you park Mom's Audi out there, maybe it will attract more scumbags :'( Also, not to get too karmic / granola about the whole thing, but don't think about shit like this, and it won't come to ya.

one thought is *Urban Camouflage* - place you valuables in old nasty looking mcdonalds bags, or put your wallet, etc in a thing that looks like trash. Many years ago, when my truck wouldn't lock, i'd put my camera gear in fast food bags I kept around exactly for that purpose. Its no guarrentees but hey, better than the center console.

I always lock my wallet, house keys, and phone in the glovebox, and always have the key in my wettie pocket or around my neck (never on my leash pocket since I've lost car keys that way.

The lowlife thieves are usually smash and grab types. If you lock your shit up hopefully they won't deal with the hassle of prying open gloveboxes.

I also started using the "pacsafe" backpacks when on surf travel to Central Am / Indo, etc. I has a woven steel mesh that acts as a cage, and you loop the built-in cable with a padlock.

Personally, I think we should band together, leave some sort of a bait car loaded with shiny new phones, wallets, etc in plain site, then when the scumbags strike, we geev 'em da Johnny-Boy Gomes treatment.

One thing for sure is that SFPD is worthless on stuff like this..
I reported a $50k embezzlement (and did the accounting for them) only to see nothing ever done...
(the guy made a mortgage payment for pete sake out of a 501(c)3 account...

Makes me wish for Batman!

There's gotta be a FEW cops that take pride in doing a professional job. Yellowrashie, any chance they'll let you use the store photos and compare it to mugshots. The more of their job you can do for them the more likely we'll get ID's. That could have been what stifled the lat dirtbag - posting his name, description, vehicle out in the community. We could do wanted posters on the light poles. How about the people that live in the neighobrhood? Surely some of them part their car on the Does anybody know an SF cop that surfs?

Yellowrashie I surfed Friday morning really early, after having read your post, and when I got back to my car I noticed two males walking North on the sidewalk, sorta aimlessly, not in a hurry at all..it struck me as a little suspicious to be walking near the beach at that hour. One guy was definitely Latino/Latin Indian looking, thin with long straight dark hair and a thin goatee. He had a pony tail. He was wearing a grey sweatshirt and baggy green pants. The other guy, who looked older and was also Latino, was lighter complexioned with short hair, had a medium build and was wearing a hat. I wouldn't want to peg someone a thieve on sketchy data, so not sure about these guys...but something was odd about them meandering around Great Highway at that early hour..I could point them out no problem.

I'd love to find em though...My car was broken into at the beach about a year ago got cameras/lens, and went on a buying spree at Best Buy in in the East Bay. And same story, SFPD didn't do shit.

By the way...it'd be really easy for the city to set up cameras on the light poles to monitor the area. And there's clearly a lot of people who've been robbed out there....maybe we need to occupy SFPD and get something done!

if you drive a stick, try prying up the housing around the shifter. if you can do it, you'll likely find a space big enough to hold a wallet + a few small odds and ends, and the housing should snap off and back on pretty easily... if it comes off to begin with. this works in a lot of subarus. and its a spot a lot of petty thieves (and cops for that matter) ignore on quick checks.
