The CDIP 142 buoy that we use for all the front page graphs and data has drifted offsite. Hopefully we'll see the data again soon.

saw a guy on a funboard grasping onto what i thought was a crabtrap to avoid the current. maybe that was it?
What the hell are those ropes attached to buoys that have been out at OB in the m i d d l e of the beach? They've been there for months? Certainly no crab traps?
No idea what the buoys were originally intended for or who placed them but I like having some short-range fix-points in addition to lining up with whatever I can make out on the shore.
I would think they are crab (or fish) traps. Up to now, I've been respecting them - back in the day, messing with another man's trap could get you shot - but I gotta say, they've clearly drifted from where they were dropped, and are now a hazard. I'm sorely tempted to pull them and see if they're filled with dinner. Although yes, they do make good lineup markers/current fighters.
Crab traps then!? Are they a hazard? That's what I've been trying to figure out...
