Rant - Choo Choo..

Yesterday afternoon I found myself floating a few hundred yards off shore on top a surfboard in Pacifica, CA. Its struck me from my albeit unique vantage point how much the S. side of Pedro Point resembles a model train set. Perhaps it was the quality of the flat overcast sky, or the plinth-like granite slabs crashing into the sea - the tops of which sprinkled green along an aggregated vertical expanse. Maybe it was the barrage of uniquely colored building facades, or the organic collapse of wooden docks and boats along the ocean’s brim. It all looked too meticulous to be real.

I think there used to be a train that was intended to run from SF to Santa Cruz along the coast. Can you imagine being in a train on devil's slide?

Yeah- I noticed the same. I think there are a few neat stories baked in there.

Greacen, that's pretty cool stuff. Wish that thing was running today. Although, they'd have to have a special pastry car to make a tidy profit.

Closeout, you know how they color old movies? I suspect that's the case in this photo.

Hey...we all need spring hobbies.
I got mine lined up.
Dioramas of surfing (with Lionel model trains) made it on the TODO list

was it the "unique vantage point" or some very special spliff? Seriously though, if you want to see a bunch of cool old photos of the Ocean Shore Railroad as it winds through Pacifica, stop in at the Vallemar Station Restaurant near the stoplight. One of the old station stops is still standing near the cliffs above Botox. (location turtle thwarted)

the train used to run booze from HMB Harbor to SF during prohibition, or something like that.

Awesome, @kok. Good call on the pastry car @frisco.

Factoid: I grew up in PA where people often convert a room in their house to model train space. Lots of obsessed neighbors tinkering away through the night (outside of deer, football seasons of course).
