Rant - Cloudbreak, Fii today
friend of mine is in Fiji this week. took the following photos of Cloudbreak today (or tomorrow, if you care about the dateline). dunno who the surfers are:

random questions:
1) do fish ever get involuntarily get caught up in big surf the same way that us landlubbers do?
2) if so, do they get messed up on the reef?

Rarely if ever. Fish and marine mammals are the Kings of duck diving, they easily go under as the wave passes by. Great example of this are Monterey's sea otters. Next time a large swell hits, watch them lay on their backs in a relaxed fashion as double overhead waves are about to pound them, they easily duck under for a second then pop back up as if nothing happened.
