That session was amazing. But what was also amazing about it was that the whole thing was broadcast live across the planet. There are so many things that suck about being a surfer in this day and age compared to, say, thirty years ago (yes, I'm that old), but being able to witness a session like that one, with the world's best surfers on the world's best waves (and they were, yesterday at least) on your big screen tv, kind of made me happy to be in the 21st century... It kind of felt like watching Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, only this was more fun.
If you missed it, you can watch the whole thing again. Go to the Volcom Fiji website, go to Heats on Demand, and watch the last heat of round two. Then let the thing run and see what happened after that heat.
Hands down the best live surfing I have ever seen. Amazing waves + cojones of steel! Modern day gladiator.
The kids and I were literally screaming out loud every time someone got a wave. Good times!
oh my god. what a collection of waves. so stoked to have been a part of that experiance
