Unfortunate news today. "At approximately 9:17 a.m., the Coast Guard was notified by the captain of the ferry vessel Peralta of a possible person overboard." Stay safe, folks.

Kind of strange how this was just picked up on the coast guard web site. Seems like fodder for local news too. Seems like there is much more to the story than the "official report."

She was in the water for 40 minutes before they picked her up. How long are non-surfers/swimmers able to last in 55 degree water?

Well, from the latest empirical data it seems like less than 40 minutes. Too bad for the person who fell off the boat. It is exhilarating to surf without a wet suit in 55 degree water. I tried it one time and lasted about an hour. It was sunny out though. That really helped.
