The gorgeous new surf film "Highwater" is as much about sociology as it is about sports.
It's the latest project from the first family of surf filmmaking. Director Dana Brown is the man responsible for the 2003 jewel "Step Into Liquid." He's also the son of Bruce Brown, the writer/director of the seminal 1966 classic "Endless Summer" as well as the 1994 sequel starring Santa Cruz homeboy Wingnut Weaver.
While there's plenty of awesome surfing footage here, what the young Brown is really after is to offer up a loving profile of a tight-knit community centered on the big wave of Oahu's North Shore.
