removed from the beach and not buried there.

hmm. i see now that this post is somewhat redundant. didn't see the earlier thread on my iphone. according to the sfgate article the plan is to bury the whale at ocean beach. i wonder who the "authorities" are that made this brilliant decision. do you think they'll be the same authorities that pony up for any resultant expenses for potential shark attack victims?

It seems to me they should either leave it right on the surface where it will be scavenged and rot faster, but of course freak many beach goers out, or drag it out to sea where the sharks can eat it in peace. Burying it at a non offensive depth to people with probably make the decomp take a very long time.
@Maharichie: I agree, dynamite didn't work very well.
They should place a small tactical nuclear weapon underneath it - that'll be sure to pulverize the entire carcass.
