And now we are three.

I've got a set of Da Fin flippers if you want 'em. They cut my ankles and I switched brands. They're free to you though, so you can't beat the price.

Mark wears Churchills and swears by them. My new set are from US Divers and they're both comfy and fast.

Welcome to the team!

Team stoked indeed! That one day at Bolinas where there was a hoggy mc hoggersons log jam going on reminded me how much fun it was :D

I still need to learn. I haven't yet intentionally bodysurfed, tho I've had some sweet pearling moments end that way.

go king. that's pretty much the polar opposite of the 10 SUP sweepers I saw milling about in the lineup at Lindy on Saturday

For those of you with a scrap of wood, this is how to make one of these little barrel hunters.

1) Pick a shape.

2) Trace.

3) Cut.

4) Sand.

5) Oil. (To keep the water out. Linseed works nice. Got plenty if you need some.)

I'm planning on a new model with a strap as my knuckles get sore from holding on through wipeouts. Gotta find a good scrap to work with. Geez life is tough :)

KoK: I'll drop the fins on your porch. Thanks for the trade offer but my new fins rock. Pass your Vipers on to the next member of the club, maybe?

Thanks T. Yeah will certainly pass on the vipers once I try out your DaFins.

Yours looks like garden gnome handplane, hanging out there.

Had a handplane dream last night. A nice right.

@tcannon Do you have a good source on the template for picking a shape? I have been inspired to build a few of these. I may not body surf OB, but there are plenty of fun waves here in HMB just asking for it.

Ok, serious question WRT body surfing.
I haven't got the hand plane thing worked out yet, but....is the theory behind it to help keep your head up, above water, while your arms are extended so you can like breathe or something?....Every time I've tried (and failed/flailed) my head just gets completely buried and then I just end up holding my breath for nearly the entire ride. Maybe I just need to practice (clearly, duh :) ) haha.

this is a dumb question, but you bodysurfers use a handplane so . . . you don't use your arms paddling out? Or?

The theory is: part of your body is out of water (reducing drag) making you faster. You see more, b/c of less spray in your eyes.

He can keep the front half of his body out of the water.

certainly looks like it, and again, nothing that I've done :(

It has been suggested out of band, that I undergo a certain operation procedure to help with floatation. But I'm not listening to that. Nor am I going to Thailand to do it on the cheap.

Seriously dude, breasts really help keep your head out of the water >and< cushion the sandbar impact. I don't see why you're so against it.

I mentioned the old HandGun to the guy who shaped my beauty. Being a young fella, he'd only heard of them. Never actually seen one. Is that a furnace vent cover in the 2nd photo? Looks like it could work for a handplane as well.

tc, I always thought a strap would work better; lemmie know how that works. I still haven't found the right move to get up on the plane, usually end up sliding down the wave on my belly.

Is that hand gun made with stealth technologies?

Dunno what science went into those but it must be valuable. There's a relic on OC Craigslist for $350!

I saw one at Mollusk the other day...
Very very tempted...
