Rant - End of the Line Surf shop

I was just talking with an old friend about a shop we used to work at when we just got out of high school in the early 90's and I found this sticker. End of the Line, was a super fun place to work and was full of different characters! It will always be a great part of my memory and I miss all the fun times we had there.

Nice. When did it shut down?

It shut down in the late 90's.. Back then it was Wise and End of the Line.

NICE. I remember two things about it:
1) It smelled like the art teacher's office ifyouknowwhatImeanandIthinkyoudo.
2) I forget.

HAHAHAHAA!!! That was good.. and yes, it did smell nice. We would put a sign made out of a piece of cardboard in the door, "be back in 15" and go have a safety meeting in the back, ifyouknowwhatImeanandIthinkyoudo.. :) We would come back out and have 5-6 people waiting in front to buy wax or rent a board, etc... So much fun...

I was in there a few times.

I stopped going when I heard a guy behind the counter rationalizing to some other guy about Gator killing a woman because she stepped out on him.

I said something like, "He didn't kill his ex, he killed a friend of his ex...and killing someone because they slept around on you or left you is just wrong."

He replied with a mumbled line about how he (Gator) was within his rights.

Oh well, another person who doesn't get life or how to win customers.

By the way, wasn't it a drug bust that eventually killed that place? Or am I thinking of another surf shop?

It could have been Larry that was helping you , he loved alligators ! There was nothing PC about the place so we probably lost customers daily. But there was a core selection that knew all of us and didn't get offended by alligator stories.

There was no drug bust, just no profit for too long and it caught up with the owner so he had to shut it down.

C Elliot. Classic call man, I forgot all about End Of The Line. What was the name of the owner? What a character!

Happy Holidays!!!

His name is Dave...... he is an awesome dude. We had so much fun in that shop, and learned lots of life's lessons, probably the hard way but we still learned them. We are still friends to this day.

He took a crappy 6'1" I brought when I moved here from Florida as a trade-in. Surf shops don't even *do* trade-ins any more. My wife got me a used O'Neill Animal there - still have it. (Can't believe I ever fit in it, but I still have it.)
