Odly enough I posted a video about no demons of the sea this am....
"A 38-year-old man was attacked and killed by a shark at around 11:00 a.m. this morning at Surf Beach in Lompoc."

Crazy that it was almost 2 years to the day. My heart goes out to family and friends of the victim.
Someone has to be one of the five humans killed by sharks each year. Unfortunately.
RIP Mr. Solorio, you went out in style. Very sad and humbling to know it can end so suddenly. As a hardcore surfer I understand the risks of the sport but the rewards are too fantastic to ignore. I feel sorry for his family, I hope he had insurance. I'm also hoping this scares away casual wannabes and I can finally score a campsite on the beach. I know a lot of the core surfers are thinking the same thing. Protect your family and purchase AD&D insurance!
Interesting factoid: this was the first (yes, first) fatal shark attack on a SURFER in california.
If indeed true, that IS interesting! I guess having even minimal foam and fiberglass sandwiched between surfer and shark's mouth is usually the difference. Moral to story? Ride thicker boards in sharky waters and live!
Here's a link to the shark report, which provides more detailed information. http://www.sharkresearchcommittee.com/pacific_coast_shark_news.htm Doesn't look like he had a chance - at least it was over quickly. And the board did get bit (pic in report), and no it's not the first fatal surfer attack in Cali, unless kneeboarders don't count. And five people were killed by sharks this year in Western Australia alone.
