Rant - Fire Dept/coast guard search at OB today?

Up on the dunes, driving the beach.
Coast guard boat was on patrol.

No one seemed in a rush so I assume it was a mistaken distress call.
Any know what was up?

Apparently, someone was worried about a kiter....who knows. Standard smarmy snark surf starved comments like if you don't know what you're doing out there, then don't go should follow. Sorry if it was a real emergency.
