Forgot your surf leash or wax? Find the Surf Bubble

1448

Have you ever arrived at the beach and realised you forgot your surf leash or wax? No worries, find the nearest Surf Bubble.
A group of Portuguese designers and entrepreneurs has developed a new way of saving perfect surf sessions from ending in the parking lot.

Imagine that your forgot your surf leash at home and the peak is pumping perfect six-foot barrels, under absolute blue skies. Crystal clear water is calling your name, but there's no cord for the surfboard.

Ha funny I have that same gumball machine. I turned it into a fortune teller for Burning Man a couple of years ago, "The Misfortune Teller". Basically it just insulted everyone who used it. Was fun typing up the f@rtunes. "That outfit demeans us both", etc.

And good idea by those guys by the way.

The surf bubble is a solution looking for a problem. Yeah I always forget my leash, despite it being attached to my board at all times. And a surfer that can't borrow a few swipes of wax has issues that a vending machine wont fix.

@KOK: I think the article must be wrong and it doesn't have a leash, I'm guessing its a rail saver ("cordinha", written on the side, means "rope", thank you Google Translate), and a 1/4 bar of wax. A leash would have to cost much more than a Euro obviously, and wouldn't fit in those bubbles.

I can't think of a break this would be appropriate at either, especially not in northern CA, even in Santa Cruz, but maybe at some specific kooky touristy spot in Portugal where this guy is from? In any case I'm all for repurposing gumball machines so he gets my hells yeah.

I have a buddy who forgot his board one time. He had everything, including the sink. Just not his board. One of those epic days too. That one's pretty tough to do. Travel light: board√, suit√, wax? Someone Will have it√

With KoK on this one. @wry, I like your "misfortune" idea better than "surf bubbles". Set it up at any popular surf spot...with fortunes like, "you will meet a certain Mr. White today", could go a long way to thinning out the crowd.

would rather surf without wax or leash if i was dumb enough to forget equipment on 6 ft barrel days and say "you live and learn" than see that manufactured piece of crap on our beaches. you can always grab a piece of wood and body surf and makes your experience more flexible than you thought
