Rant - Fundraising for SurfAid / help a Bay Area surfer take a trip to Indo

Hello SF surfers. My name is Steve and I am raising money for SurfAid International, an organization that helps the islanders of the Nias and Mentawai islands, off the coast of western Indonesia.

I have supported SurfAid even before the 2004 earthquake and Tsunami devastated those islands, but this is the first time I have tried to raise funds from others.

I have already raised almost $1000. If I raise the most money by Feb 10th, I will get a trip to the Mentawai Islands to see SurfAid in action and to surf :-) If you could help out with even a small donation, I would appreciate it. The deal is that someone is going to win this trip. If you donate to me, you get some satisfaction from knowing that a local guy is taking a once in a lifetime trip and that you helped him get there.

Also, the trip is not all about surfing. On the trip are sustainable surf tourism experts from San Diego State University’s Center for Surf Research, along with reps from Quiksilver Travel and the Quiksilver Foundation. SurfAid will be giving the winner an insider view of what SurfAid does and why they do it.

Finally, I have skin in the game and I am matching the highest donation ($165 so far). If you can help me double the money I have raised so far and crack the $3000 barrier, I'll take you with me on the trip. The fundraising campaign ends Friday, Feb 10th, so you better get to it.

I'm headed to Mex mid April. While youre busy donating to this guy, the beard, maybe you can find it in your heart to contribute to my margarita fund. I'm looking to get really really drunk so I hope you don't have alligator arms and do have deep pockets. Pay pal info to follow.

BTW, I am not collecting the money personally. All the transactions go through the stayclassy.org site directly to SurfAid.
