A vast coastal wilderness teeming with wildlife and featuring a mountain rising 2,000 feet from the sea near Moss Beach will officially become the southern entrance to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area this summer, federal officials confirmed Friday.

The last $4 million needed to buy the historic Rancho Corral de Tierra was appropriated by Congress this week, assuring the transfer of one of the largest undeveloped tracts of land remaining on the San Mateo County coast to the National Park Service.
