Rant - GoPro Dolphins

Some amazing underwater video caught of dolphins swimming alongside a group of tuna fisherman just off Santa Cruz. I've been seeing a lot of them out here in the water this past year...always a welcome guest in the lineup.

Amazing!....gopro footage I actually like. Butt wiggling dolphins=much more acceptable than gyrating surfer butts.

judging from the response, there must be at least a few surf-butt-wiggling stink-bug-style-master aficionados in the house. Go on and shake your tail feathers....sooo rad, dudes.

Interesting...

White-sided dolphins...these aren't the same as the ones I've seen up around the wide sandy beach at the western side of San Francisco, or are they?

Has anyone seen these types up here?

I've see the smaller harbor porpoise and the bigger bottlenose, but not ones that look like these.

Do these white-sided dolphins come into the surfzone in Monterey Bay?

Hey Duncan--SF Bay Whale Watching (https://www.sfbaywhalewatching.com/whales.php) lists white-sided dolphins as being around here from June to November. I believe these are the ones I've seen off of said sandy beach, though I'm not 100% sure. I've seen the harbor porpoises inside the bay more often-- I kept thinking I was seeing dolphin calves until someone schooled me on the matter--while the white sided ones I believe I've been seeing around the surf zones in SF and Marin, though I've never seen them in the bay.
