I don't want to get surfers ear. Where can I go for custom molded ear plugs?

Mack's silicon or even doc jonson plugs work just fine.

I've had three pairs of custom molded plugs made and I would not recommend them. They end up going hard after a couple of months use and leak. I would recommend Hearos Blue Silicone plugs instead.

OMG is that the pic after surgery?!? That's terrible.
SO I have slightly advance surfers ear and I've been wearing Doc's proplugs religiously for almost all my time in cold water (10 plus years)... I don't know what that means except maybe I've been wearing the wrong size or those little sound holes actually let cold in and don't do as much good as the puddy ones. I've switched to Hearos and I like them but I'm also wearing hoods from now on along with 'em.
I knew there was a downfall to surfing too much...

Go see Kathy Peck at H.E.A.R. (http://www.hearnet.com/). She's a great lady, fits custom molded earplugs for most of SF's professional musicians and a lot of swimmers and surfers as well. She also costs a lot less than visiting a Doctor, since she's set up as a non-profit. She made a set of music earplugs (with filters) and surfing earplugs for me - I've been using my surfing plugs for almost two years with no breakdown...

earplanes work the best for me. $8 at walgreens. super waterproof. have to trim them down a tiny bit if you want to wear a hood. just don't trim them too far or they can be tough to get out with cold, slippery fingers.
