Rant - Is it a Race?

I laughed out loud when I read this today. From Surfing Magazine, Rule Book, Rule #485: "Be aware that any stranger paddling back out next to you thinks your"re racing." So very true in my book. Do you feel the same way?

I try to pretend I am not by keeping a relaxed cadence but then give it an extra oomph on the underwater part of the stroke...Damn you ego!.
