King of the Küste Bispingen

Susi and Rainer Klimaschewski, two German engineers have invented not only a stationary deepwater wave, but also constructed The Wave as a mobile unit. The Munich Airport Centre (MAC) was hosting in the past years an international beach volleyball championship and a polo tournament. For the summer 2011 the MAC was looking for another extraordinary event. So the two companies got together and created a premiere: The 1. European Surf - Championship in a stationary wave

Munich already has real standing waves that are equally crappy.

I don't know much but I do know surfing on a standing wave in a 2ft pool won't get you laid. Maybe have a landlord or 2 swimming in the rear of the pool so if you eat-it it will eat you. That would be enough danger to get the ladies primed and ready.

Kidding aside, I was actually surfing the Eisbach River in Munich a few weeks ago and I have to admit it's a total blast!
Middle of downtown Munich, right by the museums and you're surfing. Tourists are standing around taking pictures. My company has an office nearby (with boards) and I'd walk over at lunch and/or after work and catch a few waves. No punching through whitewater, ice cream headaches, closeouts. Great for practicing cutbacks. Polish it off with an XL beer stein. Zupaa...
(but the Kuste is still lame)
