I would hate to see that buoy break free. Crazy to see it get ripped through the back of those set waves.

I was in Maui for the first day and a half of that swell, it was unreal. Large Lahaina Harbor, epic waves at Maui's longest left (somewhere between Lahaina and Kaanapali), and more than 1000 peaks right off the road south of town. I still dream of those 300 + yd head-overhead lefts. Best part was, swell was just starting to hit here when i got back. Knowing that made boarding the plane home A LOT easier. Santa Cruz was epic!! Too bad clean, large, consistent south swells up here are about as common as trunkable days at OB

unfocused - Over two days, I surfed almost all of Capitola, from PP to NB and most of the spots between. Everything from washed out and nuts to reeling perfection. Between Maui and SC, I was soooo noodle-armed by the end of my last SC sesh. Did you go east or west?

SFOBknewb - The buoy DID break free on that swell. I don't know if I'd rather be inside the loose buoy or the loose super-kayak around the 1:00 mark.

since we're doing a memory burn of swells past, let me tell you about the swell of '69'......

It's not so much a "memory burn," as it is keeping our hopes that it will happen again, and sooner too.

So let's enjoy past memories of the days when the surf was pumpin', and we can still get out there and stay in shape until ; - )
