The digging is done at the Devil's Slide tunnel, the arched bridges at the n0rth end have been sitting for years, and by the end of this week the concrete roadways will be completed, too.
But California's first highway tunnel in nearly 50 years won't be ready for traffic for several months more.
"This is a milestone for us," said Tom Grey, a senior Caltrans engineer on the project. "But there's still work to be done."
