Rant - Local icon passes away-

Kirby Ferris, who founded Live Water surf shop in Stinson Beach, passed away last week.Great guy, great story teller, helped many start their surfing journey. He was an icon in Marin and one of the first surfers to visit Tavarua, spending months at a time on the small island.Always helpful to SF surfers,he would help you find a good wave and some sunshine. His stoke (and No-Sharks stickers) will be around forever.

RIP Kirby ,

I just bought a shark sticker a couple weeks ago and put it on my surfboard to keep the sharks away!

I grew up in the North Bay and Kirby helped me and my friends out more than a few times. Still remember the day I was late for school and forgot to strap my board down on the roof. The music was blasting so loud I never noticed she had flown off the top on my way over the hill to Marin. After school Kirby had my board waiting for me at the shop. Picked up a few stickers last year on a trip through town. RIP Kirby

Sad news. I have fond high school memories of taking the bus from the Sausalito flea market to Stinson on Sundays and hanging out at the beach while my friend got paid to walk around in a shark costume passing out flyers for Livewater.
