I am 6' tall 180lbs in good shape and an intermediate level surfer. I want to gear up for next Winter with the perfect OB Winter surfboard. You know, the board for OH+ bombs of OB. Yes, 20 minute paddles and big harry drops. How soon we forget. What board do you like for the big Winter surf?
Looking for the perfect Winter surfboard for our beloved OH+ Ocean Beach waves.

I ride Vernor's "double over head mush burger killer" quad-egg. I can semi-duck dive it and that's been good enough to get me out. There was only one day last year the offshores were too strong to push the nose down comfortably.
It's my favorite board.

if you really think a board is going to be the difference maker you are setting yourself up to be a statistic next winter.

Well, I wouldn't ride my 5'10 twin keel at Mavs (unless kooktastic was on a PWC backing my ass up). So I somewhat agree :)

I think the difference between riding my gun and my egg is significant enough. I have a lot more fun on the egg.

@piss: I'll be there for you @Mavs when you ride that fish. You can show all those kooks on their pointy longboards WHAT'S UP!!

i was facing the same decision about 6 months ago. after looking in the stores, i ultimately decided i could get a custom shaped board for the same price i could get something off the rack. went in to las olas / sunset shapers on ###### and 46th and got my dream OB board made up. highly recommend this method. a brand new big guy step up 7'2 was $550.

@zappalives is right on. Las Olas can set you in the right direction and get you a great price.
@dakota you still killing it on your 9'6" foam top? Or wait, are you just not surfing which is how you avoid being a statistic?
