Mirages - A picture can tell a thousand lies


Waves are always the most deceiving when you’re down the beach, unable to tell if a barrel is too fast, or just makeable. “This wave breaks close to my home and often masks its true nature,” says Chris Burkard. “Although you can capture a beautiful moment here, it is only seconds before the entire beach turns into one giant wall. Though hard to believe, this particular wave is actually unrideable.” Photo: Burkard

True. I shot this photo during a trip down to Cabo. Completely unsurfable wave, but it looks perfect. Fun for bodysurfing destructo rides though...
