Nipple Chafing

Rant - Nipple Chafing

How do you guys deal with barebacking in the water and not sanding off your nubs after a 2 hour session? Heading down to El Salvador for a week and I"m getting flashbacks of the last time I was in warm water. Nips went raw, actually bled a little, couldn't wear a shirt for 2 days.

I'm contemplating on bringing down a bottle of liquid skin and putting that over the ta-tas. Anyone else get super sore on the rib cage too sans wetsuit?

fake edit: Anyone have a stock photo of the peppermint nips? User gets +1 internets for the thumbnail.

Build up a tolerance via sandpaper? Despite surfing bareback in NC every day for years, I'd still get friction rashes. Sucked.

Maybe just wear a rashguard to avoid it altogether...

yup, was gonna suggest mixing barebacking with a rashguard. try for 20 minutes bareback the first day, add an extra 10 minutes every day. Surf the rest of the time in a rashie until your nips get toughened up...

have 'em removed.

I figured the easiest answer would be a rash guard, but then again "Suns out guns out" comes into my head. I guess raw nips will be the paradise tax I have to pay.

I like to wear a plain old t shirt. Especially if it's hot out, it helps cool you off a bit. Don't wear a v-neck though, you might get called a leashless hipster.

Is there a metric that dictates how deep your V is to hipster levels?

Vaseline under rash-guard. Just don't get too much on your wax, obviously.

Actually just surfing in a t-shirt has become hipster. Cotton is an analog textile that delivers a surf-feel-a-bility that synthetic fibers can't imitate. And plain white t-shirts come without those corporate logos.

fwiw, when I was a kid, I used to get terrible tittie rash from swimming in just a t-shirt.

How about puttin' bandaids on your nips? Or, I guess, some industrial-grade peppermint pasties. Available at your local stripper supply store. @fatnewt can direct you to the one closest to the Beach.

vaseline under the rash guard should work. Or just learn how to knee paddle.

given the strength/ power of today's rays i recommend a UV rash guard for surfing 50 + SPF. and petroleum jelly for the marathoner.

My GF thought I was nuts when I hit my nips with a bit of sand paper 2 weeks and again 1 week prior to my first indonesia trip. I also hit my rib bumps. I had a good callous on both by the time I arrived. I figured the body would adapt to the new punishment and it did. Worked like a charm, no problems whatsoever. I had problems on previous trips which prompted the idea. Used the same trick last year with similar results.

Who needs SPF 50+ when you have SPF ethnicity?

Nipples don't harden or get tough or get used to chaffing. Repeatedly hurting them is doing no good. Even though kneepaddling is a douchy thing it does one thing good and that's prevent nipple chaffing. Don't understand why you would place jelly or any other lubrication under a rash guard, the rash guard itself is enough protection. Otherwise maybe avoid putting wax in the area where your areolas are when you paddle, and mix wearing a rashguard and going bareback.
