So I went to check out the Ocean Beach Master Plan meeting yesterday (after a nice sesh of course) just to see what it was all about. Considering how much time I spend at Ocean Beach and all that its provided for me, it's the least I could do to make sure any improvements are in her best interest.
Yesterday was the first meeting of many, and it mainly provided a good overview and history of Ocean Beach, past improvements, the current problem with erosion, the local ecology, etc. A landscape architecture and engineering firm - AECOM, among others, put together a professional looking presentation.
The public was free to make suggestions and submit ideas about specific areas for improvements. I think this meeting was mainly an information gathering and brainstorming session. The project leaders wanted to hear from the community about what areas we think are most critical for improvements in the short and long term (i.e. infrastructure, activities development, preservation, etc).
This was an important meeting, but I think the upcoming meetings will be more important. Especially when the project committee starts to propose ideas and solutions to the current problems, especially the erosion problem at the end of ###### Blvd.
Anyways, I encourage everyone to attend these public hearings. There was a pretty decent turnout for the 1-hour i was there. I know everyone here enjoys Ocean Beach as much as I do, so its our duty to protect her from bad interests.
