I would rate it 'Good' for externalities and general level of stoke. The surf was actually so-so, but at least the surf WAS. Shoulder-high peaks coming through with semi-regularity and not too many people on 'em. Excellent rip in front of the bathrooms, too.
Kicker, however, was being able to ride the surfbike down the outer lanes of Great Highway without worrying about being flattened by a truck, thanks to Sunday Streets. By my measure, everyone was stoked, in particular this one quadriplegic lady in a motorized chair who was enjoying the road, sun, and ocean the only day of the year that she can. Fuck yeah. I nearly ran over a few kids because I kept looking off to my right and watching the surf.
There were lifeguards out, actively discouraging us kookier ones from paddling out. I guess something about the beautiful bluebird day and massive amount of people on the street made them a little more worrisome than normal.
Just seasoned my steak. Day's on the up and up. Go get some!
