Both simpo and knox were on fire. I got to see Knox do a couple of his famous carves along with one fin release up close. The speed, the crispness and the power these guys can generate on a mediocre morn of ob high tide surf is amazing.

Saw Julian Wilson, the Gudauskus brothers, and quite a few more this afternoon. Shame there isn't any swell.
I know where the babushkas hang out when it's cold and dreary if Kelly wants some tips.
I for one am stoked that the best surfer ever is here to potentially lock up his 11th world title.
My bet is Wednesday will be a contest day and will be very entertaining!

Btw just to be clear, the pros really are far superior in the water and it's very obvious. I've heard talk of "can't make it out..." etc... That's crap

Agree with @Zurffy. Was watching around noon right in front of the contest site, and four pros were tearing up poor+ conditions like I've never seen before. Bob Wise was right, these guys will struggle with some cold hands, but that's about it.
I am guessing the guy I saw pull an air 360 was not a local? who knows though. I would love for these guys to get the official OB beat down, just to make me feel better about myself...but come on, these guys get paid to surf. They will kill it out there.
watching some of those boys quietly rip with purpose last night was amazing. screw the big wave macho bullshit, I want to see performance surfing. I'm with @Zurffy, let's see some huge airs and crazy ass shit, i want to see Slater chew this shit up and spit it out. we need manageable waves for that. there will still be current to contend with, OB's rarely easy.
Hope the fog lifts before the stormy shit comes. Nothing too spectacular projected in terms of size or quality (yet). DOH, DOH!
