Rant - Oneill 52/12 vs Psycho 3?

Hey all,

First post after a very long time lurking. Figured I would mine the collective knowledge of SR.

Was at the O'neill labor day sale yesterday, and was trying to decide between the 52/12 (4.5/3) and a new psycho 3. They were getting rid of the 52/12's for only $330, but one of the employees mentioned they might not be the best for wind in SF. Anyone had any experiences/thoughts?

As a side note: the surf in SC was pretty darn small by 6pm. A few knee to waist waves every 10ish minutes. But you coulda guessed that. I'll call it fair- because it was a blast and got me excited for this coming weekend.

I've mostly surfed 4/3s with booties & sometimes a hood. Side note: OB has ripped 2 hoodies off my head in big surf, neither to return.

Back to the topic: about 2 years ago I got a Quiksilver Cypher hooded 5/4/3 and never looked back. The 4/3 only goes on in the 'warm' summer months. I just purchased a new Xcel hooded 5/4/3 on sale at Wise for $230. Love 'em.

Unfortunately can't comment on the suits you specifically mention.
