My band did a gig a few years ago @ Sea World San Diego. We were next to a killer whale holding pool and the audience was at a restaurant on the other side of the pool. The whales were very smart and curious and would stick their heads out of the water to check out what we were doing. One of them splashed us with its fluke during the show and shorted out half the equipment (the band is electronic).
The orcas have an incredibly impressive amount of power. When they start hauling ass around the tank . . . man, it's something else.
Not like I need to lecture surfers about how humans are puny and powerless relative to Mother Nature.
What do they call Orcas again? Oh ya, "killer whales".
I guess I'd be a little more shocked if that had happened with, say, a "snuggler whale".
