Rant - pacifica water clarity

Pardon this somewhat tangential query: how is the water clarity down at linda mar/pacifica of late? I've been meaning to try out my shiny new miniature spear gun, and don't quite dare venture out at OB with it (don't worry, Uncle Pedro gave me the okay to poke around by the rocks...). Any responses (even in mockery) will be appreciated.

Never seen a secchi disk dropped in that water, but it's been looking moderately clear lately. Not sure what the visibility would normally be. I can usually make out my feet when I'm off my board and floating (I'm 6'4"). I'd be curious to hear how that goes.
