While the chances of great surf happening on Saturday and Sunday are technically two in seven - not bad odds, mind you - many 9-5ers wouldn't agree. Seems like those homeschoolers and bartenders and "flex"-workers always score the goods while everyone else is stuck on freeways, listening to bad talk radio and trying to dodge traffic on their way to the office. Such is the life of a weekend warrior.
Occasionally, though, the planets (and storms) align to remind the working class exactly why they started surfing in the first place. Such was the case this past Labor Day Weekend, when a broad, strong South Pacific storm sent swell that filtered up into California's south-facing nooks and crannies for three whole days. (At least. Plus a hurricane!)
