Rant - Pleasure Point piercing-graphic

This is why you should hold on to your board in the lineup. I wasn't expecting this piercing, but was more upset about missing some pretty good waves. Fortunately after 1 1/2 hours of suturing, my ear is back in place, but a little swollen:) Be careful out there! Wear a helmet?

Glad you're OK despite the less than pleasurable event.
That's one nasty hanging chad, and I'm glad the Dr voted to keep it.
Reminds me of http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Nipple_Removal but that's on their own volition.
Heal up, heal fast, get some ASAP.

Sorry to hear about (and see) your injury; looks like a rough hit.
Were you pegged by your own board/leash snapping back, or by someone else's errant board?
Get well soon.

This is an example of, Don't bail your board when someone is behind you. Hold on to that damn thing, learn to duck dive or don't go out. I can duck dive waves up to 15 foot, there is no need for shit like this.

The dangers associated with surfing, from your own board to other people's boards (especially if they elect not to wear a leash), the nearby rocks or even just the sandbar, are all not only real but can cause serious trauma and even death. Listen to the wise words of @olijam - WEAR A HELMET! I cannot even tell you how many times that, in my more than 12 years of wearing one, my helmet has saved my head, my session, and more than paid for itself.

If it's not too good for charger/hellman/overall crazy Timmy Turner, it's not too good for the rest of you in the water!

Rough and raw deal :\
Someone deserved a good talking to at the minimum :\
Been there, but only suffered a ding on the leg. It hurt, but not as slicey hurt as you.

There's a tear in your ear

Man, shitty weekend for random injuries. Saw a friend as he was getting out at OB after breaking his nose/needing 5 stitches over his eye after the board bounced up and hit him as he was about to prone it out to shore.

That sucks though, hope it heals quick

Wow, that sucks. My condolences.

On the bright side, at least he didn't slice open your jugular.

Ouch. Sorry this happened. Impressed that you're not furiously ranting about the surfer who almost killed you!

@whoa, well what can you do right? What's done is done. You give the guy an earful, you tell him/her to hold on to their &*(#^*(@#&# board, and you tell them if you ever see that again, you'll call in reinforcements, and you call it done. All that can be done, really. If you don't have insurance, I spose you could ask them to pony up. That's what I'd do if I had no insurance anyway. @olijam is a man's man. Takes his lumps, and POSTS IT ON THE INTERNET! ROARRRRR *CHESTTHUMP* :)
We'd like follow up pics btw @olijam :)

Hey everyone, here is the follow up to my injury 3 months ago. I took 2 weeks off after this happened, but have been back at it since. I've decided to avoid longboarding in big surf and crowds. Now I only shortboard in Santa Cruz, unless it's a tiny day. I feel much more comfortable surrounded by shorties on a big day. Enjoy! Thanks to Deb at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz.
