There are quite a few amazing right points within a few miles of this place. When I was there- there were still lots a children glue-sniffers (horrible) and the repercussions of a ten year civil war were still quite evident. I imagine it's cleaned up quite a bit.
I also questioned how clean the water was there---it was a bit...ummmm...let's say cloudy.

Sounds like a typical scenario - god's great gifts and us shitting all over it and ourselves.

i was there in 2001 ... during 9- 11 in fact. I liked the area and the town. The surf is good and pretty consistent. I was on my backside for two weeks and did not complain once.

One never complains about frontside/backside. You take what she gives and like it.

I never complain either, shivs. I do however almost prefer to surf my backside. Im a goofy, and really enjoying pumping and jamming down some nasty right hand walls. sort of more challenging, as it is probably easier to surf frontside. but yeah, l's and r's, whatevs. it's all good

Just got back from a couple weeks there and agree that there are a number of great set-ups within a few miles. Waves were great, people were incredibly friendly, but the water quality is a little sketch after a storm. Sinuses still burning a little from the last few days of surf.
