Rare Photo of Shaun Tomson Surfing Fort Point

0

As iconic of a surf spot as ###### is, rare is the photo of a big name surfer riding the challenging waves that break underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. It isn't often that the world's greatest surfers make their way up to San Francisco, as a result the only images you'll find of ###### feature talented locals riding one of Northern California's more amazing waves. Enter Tom Brown, owner of an online surf museum called Mr. Surf Junk and a longtime associate and business partner of former World Champion surfer Shaun Tomson.

Oh no, Northern California's most secret spot is exposed!

Give me a fucking break, the place has been known to all for 15 years. I can't believe this site actually blocks the name. If Shaun Tomson's putting it on his catalog, especially since he did it years ago, it isn't exactly a secret. The big bridge thing in the background pretty much gives it away.

F O R T P O I N T !

I'm with you, Extreme Scene. The notion of secrecy there is a total fucking joke; spot $@!@!S is a high profile tourist destination and situated below the city's most famous landmark. However, this article will surely enrage Grumpy Mc Grumperson the Gnar Codger and his ancient crew of 20ft-board-riding lackies. Ultra-violence! I heard O'Neil's making a new suit with Depends built in.

Oh, and Shark Turd, I thought your initial comment was hilarious. For the record (with the intent of limiting dispute here ) I didn't take Extreme Scene's comment as one that was directed towards you at all. More so, I took it as a general poke at the reaction that could potentially arise from the spot getting more press.

How do I know that's not me in the photo? Or you?

"what'll you have, mister"? Whatever the locals are having. "Allright then, 2 ft. slop on the rocks coming right up". Let's be serious now...the pic is hardly a ringing endorsement for the place. Sheeesh, other than lake-like flat, could there be a more unflattering shot? Rhumor has it that Shaun fired his marketing director afterward. If I didn't know better myself, I'd say this must be some ingenious anti-marketing device.

Rocks, he said rocks....#####=rocks...maybe I should've said 2 ft. slop on the boulders.

Hey Extreme Scene: ###### has been known to all for 15 years ?????????!!!!!!!!!! Next thing your going to say is that is that surf in The City was "discovered" 15 years ago. We were surfing and getting ticketed and sometimes arrested by MP's in 1972 and we absolutely were NOT new at ######. History did not start 15 years ago !!

I really wish i could be a rootsy local surfer and know where this is.....judging from the photo I can't really tell.

sharkturd, comment wasn't directed towards you, rather those few individuals who still think F o r t P o i n t is some secret spot that shouldn't be mentioned. mi123, I wasn't aiming for precision with the length of time, just trying to say the spot has been well known to the masses for a long time, to still put up this facade that F o r t P o i n t is some secret doesn't make sense.

It's a shame that SFGate let's this guy get away with writing articles that are actually an ad for his so called surf shop. what a joke!

chris wilson, the epitome of a hater. If you bothered to actually take a look at SFGate's 'City Brights' section you'd see that all of the writers there promote their business ventures. You can also read the bio to understand why SFGate "let's this guy" (nice grammar) write articles. He's been doing it for a while.

Hi Chris,

You don't know me, yet between calling my shop requesting to take down one of your videos, and now your comments on websites, I have to ask - what's your beef with me? You've never met me, you clearly don't know a thing about me, yet you write posts being negative towards me and my shop. Direct quote: "It's a shame that SFGate let's this guy get away with writing articles that are actually an ad for his so called surf shop. what a joke!" If you get a kick out of making enemies for a living fine, to each their own. I have to ask why you're trash talking me when you don't know a thing about me. I'm great friends with a lot of the Maverick's and OB crew, have been surfing here for half my life, I even webcast commentated previous Maverick's contests and MC'd the recent Opening Ceremonies. I say these things because you dropped the "###### Cove Brah" on me when you called and if you feel like you have to present your cred, this is mine. I've also been a surf journalist for over ten years, to answer your question about why SFGate let's me write stories for them. If you want to be angry with me and trash talk without telling me why fine, continue. I just want to know why you're doing it when you know nothing about me. Take care.

Cyrus
