The Revolution

Bruce writes: As I was exiting the water yesterday, I was blissfully tired, my body flooded with endorphins, and I was thinking about why more people don’t ride surfmats.

That morning I’d had the same conversation as a hundred times before, “What is that you’re riding? It sure goes fast …” and a couple of kids even recognized that it was a surf mat, “Yeah I saw a guy riding one at Salt Creek the other day”.

So why am I the only one out riding the most advanced wave riding craft on the planet?

Why haven’t the masses caught on?

That is kind of an obnoxious article:

"Remember the kids I mentioned as the beginning of the post? After I had shown them the mat I was riding, a Fourth Gear Flyer, one of them asked me what I did when I lost the mat in a wipeout. I replied that since I had fins on and was probably still in decent position in the lineup I would just bodysurf for a while then pick up my mat and continue surfing it. A wipeout wasn’t a failure it just required some shifting gears to continue the stoke. The poor lad, raised on a steady diet of magazines and contest video had never considered that surfing could be anything more than the one dimensional exercise that he saw the pros do in the magazines."

The kid was just asking what happens when you lose the board.

Here is the top video on google for Fourth Gear Flyer ("most advanced wave riding craft on the planet"):

Some guy dropping in on someone then going straight.

Have to agree with Lemmy. So many ways to be a tool in the surfing world. Nevertheless, as a mat owner, there's nothing more beautiful than pulling up to a Maui point break. No one is out (zero) because it's 2 feet. BUT...it's glassy and peeling perfectly on the inside over 18 inches of water. Then that "so glad I brought my mat" feeling settles in. And all is right with the world.

I know it hurts, and you can give a thumbs down to feel better but.... these "retro" surf crafts are a trendy way of hiding the fact that you can't surf.Is it the board that can't turn or the rider? usually both.Keep having fun,but the secret is out!

+100 for Marklar (as an aside, sometimes when I click on the thumbs, nothing happens...just my crappy old computer, or what?? any ideas? - probably just my poor internet skills).

I like how the best clips lemmy could dig up all look terrible and prove without witnessing it once in person why I already hate this "future" of watersports. Dropping in on a guy and going straight, YAY!!! I'm going to start surfing with a safety pin on my leash, hope you can swim.

Have fun, ride what you want, but why it is the "most advanced" on the planet is beyond me.

There is NO WAY this is the "most advanced" wave riding craft on the planet! Remember the Hover Craft board! That is the most advanced craft in the water.

However, when buying nfl jerseys on sale, as there are many stores that sell fake jerseys as the authentic, you should really pay extra attention if you not buying from a reputed or well known store. If you are buying online, it is really a good idea to ask for recommendations and check for feedback. A replica jersey might cost half money in comparison with an authentic one, but it can really last too little and fast dissolving after several washings with its fit and form lost.
