Is Skip still making boards? I"ve seen them around and some blog posts about receiving recent shipments of Skip's boards abroad (Japan) but I can't find any other info.

Great clip from my favorite surf flick.
For anyone else who likes those 16mm longboardy vids, everything from Thomas Campell rocks. I leave Sprout and the Seedlings on at parties as visuals. There's some pics of me projecting it onto the side of a giant building here, because crackheads need surf flicks too:

Thanks all. I need to get some decent video of my new goofy projection project, a pong game I made that looks and plays exactly like regular pong, only the balls bounce off the windows... Some crappy vid of it in demo mode here:
@TT: that was a video I made for last halloween. The mice were crawling all around the vacant lot. I don't think we fooled anyone, but it made me chuckle. And returning the mice to Petco when we were done was priceless. "These mice just aren't working out."
And holy shit, does anyone know who does olddirtyalley.net? Howdy neighbor! The vacant lot you're filming that building go up is the same one these projections are made from. I live in the big blue building next to that lot. In prehistoric internet times I made a bunch of videos of crackheads smoking in that alley: wrybread.com/crackcam. Ha I just looked at page, the videos are in frickin Real Video format. Ah, the 90's. Luckily I put a few on youtube:

Its kind of a you-gotta-know-him thing. I got my 9'6" shaped in 2001 because I used to work with his wife, Donna. That board broke up here in 2007. I ended up replacing it with a similar board shaped by Josh Hall. Skip let Josh look over his shoulder for quite a while before Josh started making his own boards down in San Diego. They aren't identical boards or shapers. But Skip's influence is clear. Josh has a number of stock models, but if you talk him about what you want, you can get pretty close to a Skip Frye. They still surf together regularly, so its not as though Josh is going to be terribly offended if you say you are looking for something in a similar style to a classic Skip Frye board.
The only caveat...there really isn't a spot in the city that fits his style of board. Deep water reefs are best for Skip Frye boards. I put any number of breaks at Sunset Cliffs, no name spots in baja and Tourmaline (and then a few spots around Encinitas) as my faves for his boards. I suppose there might be something in SC that would work....but that's like, far.
